Update

PCSO Hawksworth and Hodgkinson were on ASB foot patrols around Church Gresley when they sighted an e-scooter being ridden by a young male with his face covered, after attempting to stop it due to the manner of the driving the rider rode off.

Further down the road the rider collided with a lady, knocking her to the ground.

PC Boniface and Murray sighted the rider several streets away and quickly removed him from his e-scooter.

Thankfully, no serious injury was sustained and as a result of their actions, the 15 year old male has been dealt with by officers and referred to youth offending services and is now under their supervision for 4 months. The e-scooter was seized and disposed of.

This is a prime example of why we seize e-scooters as we regularly see riders, riding dangerously, at speed and putting the public and themselves at risk.

There has been multiple cases of injuries being caused.

We also recently dealt with an incident where one youth riding an e-scooter has travelled so fast into the side of a new Range Rover, it caused thousands of pounds of damage.

Please do not allow you children to ride e-scooters in a public place -this is illegal and they will be seized by police.
